TTC students going for gold

A delegation of two students and three advisors will attend the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, June 19-June 23. Andrew Barbour, HVAC, and Steve Leonard, Computer Operations Technology, will try to add a national award to the first place award that they received in Chattanooga in April. The advisors are Richard Woodward, Computer Operations Technology, Scott Simerly, HAVC, and Roberta Bowers, Assistant Director.

SkillsUSA WinnersSkillsUSA will return to Kansas City June 19–June 23, 2006 for its 42nd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference, a showcase of career and technical education students. Quality career and technical education will be the centerpiece of the conference. More than 13,750 students, teachers, education leaders, and representatives from more than 1,000 national corporations, trade associations, businesses and labor unions will attend the event. A special highlighted event will be the annual SkillsUSA Championships June 22 with 84 hands-on skill and leadership competitions.

The conference will be held in the H. Roe Bartle Conference Center, American Royal/Kemper Arena, and the Municipal Auditorium. There will be many other activities in addition to the competition. They include SkillsUSA University Seminars and Community Service Projects on Friday. This year, the community service event is sponsored by Timberland. There will also be a community blood drive.
