Business Systems Technology
The Professional Secretaries Institute Model Curriculum for office careers provides a framework for this 12-month program making it easier to train individuals to perform work successfully in the area. Through a series of suggested courses, this curriculum develops the skills and attitudes office professionals need to secure good jobs in the office of the 21st Century.
The curriculum reflects the use of state-of-the-art office equipment and promotes the use of computers, as well as other office machines in the office. The current course of study emphasizes the use of technology and the development of interpersonal skills that students use to secure a job and keep it.
Individuals are trained to perform work successfully as administrative assistants with emphasis in accounting or customer service and medical administrative assistant with emphasis in transcription of insurance and coding. A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required for entrance into this program. Day and evening classes are offered in Elizabethton. A day class is also offered in Mountain City.

Part-time classes are available and meet from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, only at the Main Campus, 426 Highway 91, Elizabethton.

Effective Fall Trimester, 2011, maximum financial assistance to qualifying students enrolled in the Business Systems Technology Training Program for 1,296 hours of instruction is as follows: Wilder-Naifeh Technical Skills Grant, $2,000; Federal Pell Grant, $5,500.
The Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton does not offer a student loan program.
