Ford Motor Company and Erwin Motors presented a Ford Powerstroke 6.4 liter turbo diesel engine for use in the Diesel Powered Equipment Technology training program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton.
Todd Love, owner of Erwin Motors, Pat Lawson, field service engineer for Ford Motor Company's Cincinnati, Ohio Region, and Steve Estes, business manager at Erwin Motors, presented the engine to Dean Blevins, director of TTC-Elizabethton, John Lee, diesel powered equipment instructor, and Lester Julian, adjunct faculty member.

Lawson said the 32-valve OHV design engine, utilizing the latest in "clean diesel" technology, will minimize emissions.
"The engine is used in Ford Super Duty trucks. It has dual stage turbochargers, 350 horsepower @ 3000 rpms and a 650 pound-foot torque @ 2000 rpm," Lawson said.
"Erwin Motors has been in business for 52 years. Training on current technology is crucial to up and coming technicians. Erwin Motors is extremely grateful to Ford Motor Company for the engine donation," Love said.
Students who complete the 20-month Diesel Powered Equipment Technology training program at TTC-Elizabethton receive a diploma as a Diesel Technician. Certificate Awards are presented following four to 16 months when various units of study are completed in the competency-based training program.
