Applications are now being received for an Online Dietary Manager Training Program offered by the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton. Registration will be held Aug. 1-25. Online classes begin Sept. 7.
Approved by the Dietary Managers Association, the eight-month program is designed to prepare graduates for the National Credentialing Exam. More than 104 students from 72 cities in 29 states have enrolled in the online program since it began in 2003.
The course consists of one to two lessons per week and 150 hours of field training in the student’s hometown. Topics include food procurement, nutrition, sanitation, food and safety and administrative personnel management.
Nationally, the average annual salary of Dietary Managers is $39,201. Dietary Managers are employed in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living centers, large childcare centers, correctional and rehabilitative centers, restaurants and schools.
The cost to enroll in the program is approximately $1,900, which includes the registration fee, textbooks, liability insurance and cost of the credentialing exam. The program qualifies for the Federal Pell Grant and the Tennessee Lottery Scholarship. TTC-Elizabethton does not charge an out-of-state tuition fee.
