Stephanie McConnell of Elizabethton, student in the Practical Nursing Program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, has been named Student of the Month for December.
After graduating from high school 20 years ago, adopting a special needs child and giving birth to a child of her own, Ms. McConnell decided to return to school to become a licensed nurse.
According to her nursing instructors, Ms. McConnell displays maturity, positive attitude, a drive that is unsurpassed, sensitivity, humility and a rare sense of humor. She tutors classmates and cheers them on while continuing to care for her ailing grandmother.
"This young woman is realizing her dream and we support her in that endeavor," one of her nursing instructors said.
