The Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton has received an award from the Tennessee Alliance for Continuing Higher Education for "Outstanding and Innovative Credit Programming" in recognition of the online Dietary Manager Training Program.
Since 2003, when the online program was first offered by TTC-Elizabethton, more than 212 students from 130 cities and towns in 28 states have been trained for employment as a Certified Dietary Manager in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, correctional and rehabilitative centers and large day care facilities.
The eight-month training program, approved by the Dietary Managers Association, prepares students for the national credentialing exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager. Field training is arranged in the student's hometown.
TTC-Elizabethton is one of eight training facilities in the U.S. currently offering the online Dietary Manager Training Program. The online instructors are Sherry Kyker of Johnson City, Tenn., and Phyllis Ensor of Elizabethton. The program director is Patricia Roark, RN.
