The Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton is sponsoring an essay contest for area high school seniors in observance of Constitution Day and Citizenship Day on Sept. 16. The winner of the contest will receive a $1,000 tuition scholarship to attend the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, announced Jerry Patton, director.
The contest is open to high school seniors in Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington counties. The essay, "What Constitution Day and Citizenship Day Means to Me," should not exceed 500 words in length.
Contest judges will be members of the National Vocational Technical Honor Society at TTC-Elizabethton. Entries must be postmarked or delivered to the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, 426 Highway 91, by Sept. 2.
TTC-Elizabethton offers full-time training programs in Automotive, Business Systems, Computer Operations, Diesel Powered Equipment, Electricity-Electronics, HVAC/Refrigeration, Millwright Skills, Practical Nursing and Welding technologies that may be completed in 12 to 18 months, depending upon the program.
No ACT Test is required for admission to the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton. The registration and tuition fee is $1,984 to attend as a full-time student for 12 months. Students are also eligible for the Tennessee Lottery Scholarship, which pays $1,300 per year, in addition to the Pell Grant.
