There are 243 students scheduled to graduate from the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton at 7 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 13) at commencement exercises to be held in Seeger Chapel on the campus of Milligan College.
Dr. Jane Jones, associate vice president for Health Affairs and executive assistant to ETSU President Paul Stanton, is the keynote speaker. Dean Blevins, newly-appointed director of TTC-Elizabethton, and Dr. Lynn Goodman, assistant vice chancellor of operations for the 27 Tennessee Technology Centers, will award diplomas and certificates to the graduates.
In the 2009 Graduating Class are 90 students who majored in Practical Nursing, 35 in Business Systems Technology, 22 in Electricity-Electronics, 14 in Welding, 13 in Computer Information Technology. 13 in Pipefitting, seven in HVAC-Refrigeration, six each in Millwright Skills and Automotive Technology and one in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology. These full-time training programs take 12 to 20 months to complete.
In addition, TTC-Elizabethton will present Certificates of Completion to 36 students from 32 cities and towns in 12 states who completed the eight-month online Dietary Manager Training Program. To date, more than 186 students from 28 states have completed the training to prepare for the national credentialing exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager and employment in hospitals, nursing homes, schools and correctional and large day care facilities across the United States.
