Nurse Aide Training

Nine Carter County high school students graduated from the Nurse Aide Training Program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton on April 30 after completing 135 hours of training after regular school hours. They are, front row, from left, Nick Rodriquez and Kelli Metcalf, Hampton High School; Beth Perry and Brittany Scott, Happy Valley High; standing, from left, Wendy Wright, instructor, Brittany Brown and Robin Miller, Unaka High School; Sarah Honeycutt, who was named “Outstanding Student,� and Jada Johnson, Cloudland High School. Not pictured is Erin Wards of Happy Valley High School. The Runway After School Program was financed with unclaimed Tennessee lottery funds. The training program prepares students for the state exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide and provides necessary skills for job opportunities in a health care facility.

New TCN Board Appointee
Scott Collier of Kingsport, 2008 graduate of the practical nursing program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, is pictured with Ann Duncan, executive director of the Tennessee Center for Nursing, left, and Maureen Nalle, professor of nursing at the University of Tennessee, current president of TCN. Collier, who is a Licensed Practical Nurse at Bristol Regional Medical Center, attended his first meeting recently as the newest member of the board of directors of TCN, the research arm of the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
ASE Certification
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has certified the Automotive Technology Training Program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton following an evaluation by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation against standards developed by the automotive industry required for accreditation. Jacky Livingston, instructor, affixes a sign in the school's automotive shop, located at 1500 Arney Street. Students at TTC-Elizabethton receive Certificate Awards after completing three weeks to four months of study in various automotive categories and an Automotive Technician Diploma after 20 months of study. The program also prepares graduates for the ASE certification exam.
