Record Summer Enrollment
A record 461 students enrolled in online and on-campus classes for the summer term at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, Jerry Patton, director, announced recently.

On-campus training programs in Automotive, Business Systems, Computer Information, Diesel Powered Equipment, Electricity-Electronics, HVAC-Refrigeration, Millwright Skills, Practical Nursing and Welding may be completed in 12 to 20 months.

To offset rising gasoline costs to students who commute to class daily, the school week at TTC-Elizabethton may be shortened from five to four days. "We would still provide 30 hours of instruction per week," Patton said. The proposal must be approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents.

Patton also announced that TTC-Elizabethton, in the last fiscal year, had a 76 percent completion rate and 95 percent job placement rate in all programs and a 97 percent licensure pass rate by nursing students on the Tennessee Board of Nursing exam.

TTC-Elizabethton has one of the largest Practical Nursing training programs in Tennessee with classes in Elizabethton, ETSU at Kingsport and ETSU at Bristol.

A record 62 students are currently enrolled in Certified Nurse Aide training, which takes 135 hours to complete, to prepare for the state certification exam. No high school diploma or GED is required to enroll in the class.

Among online courses, 43 students from across the U.S. are currently enrolled in the eight-month online Dietary Manager Training Program to prepare for the national credentialing exam.
