December CNA Graduates

A total of192 Certified Nurse Aides were trained at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton in 2008 and are now employed at health care facilities throughout Northeast Tennessee. The Dec. 15 graduates, seated, from left, are Shatona Markland, Lacie Barnett and Melissa Smith, all of Carter county; and Jayne Hampton, Unicoi county; standing, from left, are Barbara Benfield, instructor; Evelyn Estep, Johnson county; Shelia Davis, Washington county; and Melissa Strickler, Michael Mikosh and Angela McKinley, all of Sullivan county. The 135-hours of training covers state regulations mandated by the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment. The course prepares students for the state exam to become a Certified Nurse Aide and employment in a health care facility. No high school diploma or GED is required to enroll in the course.
