A record 418 students are enrolled at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton for the 2007 fall trimester.
Jerry Patton, director, said 315 students are enrolled in day classes in Elizabethton, Mountain City and Kingsport, 28 in evening classes, 58 in online classes, 16 in Certified Nurse Aide training and one in Tech Foundations.
Patton attributed the increase in enrollment to the school's training programs, which lead to gainful employment after 12 to 20 months of study, low registration fee and the availability of financial assistance.
The registration fee to attend TTC-Elizabethton for 12 months is $2,169 for all programs except nursing which is $2,469. Full-time students who qualify receive $2,000 per year from the Tennessee Lottery Scholarship fund, in addition to $4,310 Federal Pell grant.
Among the 27 technology centers in Tennessee, TTC-Elizabethton is one of five with a 90 percent or above student job placement rate in all program areas.
TTC-Elizabethton offers diploma programs in Automotive, Business Systems, Computer Operations, Diesel Powered Equipment, Electricity/Electronics, HVAC/Refrigeration, Millwright Skills, Welding and Practical Nursing, the latter one of the largest LPN programs in the state.
