A record 296 students graduated from the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton on Aug. 14 in ceremonies held in Seeger Chapel on the campus of Milligan College. Dr. Donald R. Jeanes, president of Milligan College, was the keynote speaker.
In the 2008 Graduating Class were 142 students who majored in Practical Nursing, 32 in Business Systems Technology, 14 in Electricity – Electronics, 14 in Welding, 13 in HVAC/Refrigeration, 12 in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology, 10 in Millwright Skills, eight in Automotive Technology and six in Computer Information Technology.
Full – time training programs at TTC – Elizabethton take 12 to 20 months to complete. Last fiscal year, TTC – Elizabethton had a 76 percent student completion rate and a 95 percent job placement rate in all programs.
Among 251 students who received diplomas were 73 from Carter County, 69 from Sullivan, 47 from Washington, 21 from Johnson, 16 from Hawkins, nine from Greene, eight from Unicoi, one from Hamblen, five from North Carolina and two from Virginia.
In addition, TTC – Elizabethton presented Certificates of Completion to 45 students from 37 cities in 12 states that completed the online Dietary Manager Training Program. The program, which takes eight months to complete, prepares students for the national credentialing exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager. To date, more than 150 students from 28 states have graduated from the online Dietary Manager Training Program since the program's inception in 2002.
