School Week Shortened

The Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton will be going to a four-day school week, beginning July 14, to combat rising gasoline prices for students who commute to class each day from five counties in Northeast Tennessee.
Jerry Patton, director, said full-time students will still receive 30 hours of instruction each week. Under the new schedule, class will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. each day, with 30 minutes off for lunch. TTC-Elizabethton offers classes in Elizabethton, Mountain City, Bristol and Kingsport.

Patton said the four-day school week, approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents, was requested by students who found it more and more difficult to attend school as a result of the high price of gasoline. “Please know that we are here to help all our students and will work with them in any reasonable way we can,” Patton said.

Administrative offices at the Main Campus, 426 Highway 91, and at the Herman Robinson Campus, 1500 Arney Street, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  For additional information, contact TTC-Elizabethton at 423-543-0070.
