The 2007 Student Appreciation Day Observance at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton was a success, according to Mike Cole, student services coordinator.
Students participated in costume and chilli contests. In the costume contest, Kathy Terrill, Annie Styles and Bobbie Neal, pictured from left, students in the Practical Nursing Program, took first, second and third place, respectively.
In the chilli cookoff, Richard Green, Electricity/Electronics, Will Pruitt, Computer Operations Technology, and Kiersta Copp, Business Systems Technology, pictured from left, took first, second and third place, respectively.
The judges' panel included State Rep. Kent Williams, Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes, Carter County Circuit Court Clerk John Paul Mathes, WJHL-TV Meteorologist Rob Williams, Ruby Malone of Southern Café and Harold Morrell of the technology center.
The Kody Norris Smokey Mountain Boys bluegrass band provided the entertainment. Students dined on chilli and all the trimmings, plus dessert, at the festive event held on the Herman Robinson Campus, 1500 Arney Street, Elizabethton.
Donating door prizes were Big John's, Cracker Barrel, Applebee's, Fatz Café, Lone Star Steakhouse, Food City, Stoney's Pizza, Gregg's Pizza, Schwan's Ice Cream, Best Uniforms, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Believers Christian Books and Gifts, Curves, and Hair Fashions and More.
