David Dowell - Student of the month.

David Dowell of Washington County, a student in the Welding training program at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, has been named Student of the Month.

Dowell, who worked as an auto and heavy equipment mechanic since he was 17, attended night classes at Scott County, Va., Vocational Center prior to enrolling at TTC-Elizabethton. According to his instructor, Dowell is an excellent student who will receive a Diploma Award as a Combination Welder when he graduates from the 12-month training program in April. Dowell will also be certified by the American Welding Society as a structural welder and by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers as a pipe welder in both Gas Tungsten Arc and Shielded Metal Arc welding as part of the training program at TTC-Elizabethton. Dowell seeks employment in the construction field upon graduation.
