Graduates of the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton may now transfer credits to Mayland Community College, Spruce Pine, N.C., to continue their education past the diploma or certificate level.
It was made possible through the recent signing of an articulation agreement by Jerry Patton, director of TTC-Elizabethton, and Dr. Suzanne Owens, president of Mayland. The North Carolina Articulation Agreement allows students to transfer from Mayland to any college within the North Carolina University System.
Mayland Community College offers more than 35 different degree options at campus locations in Newland, Spruce Pine and Burnsville. Tennessee students may be eligible for in-state tuition if they are employed by a North Carolina-based business and meet other eligibility requirements, Owens said.
TTC-Elizabethton offers training programs in Automotive and Diesel Technology, Dietary Management, Nurse Aide, Practical Nursing, Business Systems & Computer Operations Technology, Electricity and Electronics, HVAC and Refrigeration, Millwright and Welding.
One of 26 technology centers in Tennessee, TTC-Elizabethton is governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents and accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.
