A record 308 students graduated from the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton at commencement exercises held in Seeger Chapel on the campus of  Milligan College on Aug. 12.

Chelle Travis, assistant vice-chancellor for instruction for the 27 Tennessee  Technology Centers governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents, was the keynote  speaker. Dean Blevins, director of TTC-Elizabethton, awarded diplomas and  certificates to the graduates.

In the 2010 Graduating  Class were 149 students who majored in Practical Nursing, 36 in  Business Systems Technology, 23 in Welding, 18 in Electricity-Electronics, 8  each in Automotive Technology, Computer Information Technology, and Millwright  Skills, 6 in HVAC-Refrigeration, and 2 in Diesel Powered Equipment Technology.  These full-time training programs take 12 to 20 months to complete. The 258  graduates of these on campus programs included 77 from Carter county, 71 from  Washington, 43 from Sullivan, 24 from Johnson, 15 from Hawkins and 11 from  Greene, as well as four from western North Carolina and two from southwest  Virginia.

In addition, TTC-Elizabethton awarded Certificates of  Completion to 50 students from 23 cities and towns in nine states who completed  the eight-month online Dietary Manager Training Program. To date, more than 236 students from 28 states have completed the training to prepare for the
national  credentialing exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager and employment in  hospitals, nursing homes, schools and correctional and large day care  facilities across the United States.
