Registration for Computer Based Testing is underway
Registration for Computer Based Testing from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence is underway through Aug. 22.
Tests will be administered at the ACT Center, operated by the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, July 17-Aug. 22, according to Roberta Bowers, director of the ACT Center, located in the Workforce Development Complex, 386 Highway 91 in Elizabethton.
ASE tests will be offered in Automotive Series (A1-A8), Collision Repair & Refinish (B2-B6), Medium/Heavy Truck (T1-T8), plus Service Consultant (C1), Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1), Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnostics (L2) and Automobile Parts Specialist (P2).
The test day and time will be scheduled at the time of registration. To register, call toll-free, 1-800-525-6929. The registration fee is approximately $70, in addition to test fees, which range from $37 each to $95 maximum, payable by credit card. Students will be required to have an e-mail address or fax number to receive registration confirmation.
To become ASE certified, applicants must pass one or more tests and have two or more years of full-time, hands-on work experience. ASE requires recertification testing every five years. All ASE certification tests are designed to measure professional vehicle service knowledge of diagnostic and repair skills necessary for competent job performance. The ACT Center at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton offers skill assessment testing services and more than 3,000 online training courses for employers, employees and potential employees. The ACT Center is open 20 hours per week, including Saturdays.
