Course Description
The Diesel Mechanics-Heavy Equipment Repair program is a 20–month program that provides students with practical experience in the repair and maintenance of diesel powered trucks and equipment, with training in the areas of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, clutch and transmissions, hydraulics, drive-lines, axles, frame suspension, and diesel truck and tractor steering.
Students receive instruction in diagnosing trouble areas, engine analysis, the disassembly of components, and reassembly. The fuel injection lab prepares students to be knowledgeable in the area of injection troubleshooting and repair. After course completion, the graduate will be prepared to enter the workforce as an entry level technician.
Students wishing to complete a certificate should inform the instructor when entering the program.
