Some 100 high school juniors and seniors from Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington counties participated in life and health skill exercises conducted by nursing students at the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton on Wednesday (March 20).
The "Nursing Needs You" event at TTC-Elizabethton was designed to give an overview of postsecondary nursing education to health occupation students, according to Terri Blevins, director of the practical nursing program at TTC-Elizabethton.
Each year, TTC-Elizabethton accepts an average of 370 students to the 12-month Practical Nursing program, which prepares graduates for the State Board of Nursing exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. TTC offers nursing classes during the day and evening in Elizabethton and during the day on the ETSU at Kingsport campus near Allandale.
