Scottie D. Coleman of Johnson City, a recent graduate of the Computer Operations Technology Program at Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton, has traveled a road few have gone before him.

Coleman has been certified as a Master Microsoft Office Software Specialist by Microsoft Corporation, the third TTC-Elizabethton student to achieve such proficiency, according to Richard Woodward, instructor.

A 2000 graduate of Science Hill High School, Coleman completed the 18-month training program in computer operations at TTC-Elizabethton in December 2004. "I plan on entering ETSU and pursue a four-year degree in computer sciences,'' said Coleman, who is also seeking a part-time job as a computer technician.

Over a period of six months, Coleman successfully responded to a battery of questions about Microsoft Office software. "Microsoft Office Specialist certification at the Master level identifies you (Coleman) as an individual with the highest level of expertise in using Microsoft Office Programs," according to the announcement from Microsoft.

TTC-Elizabethton is an authorized testing center for Microsoft Office User Specialists. For more information, please go to the Computer Operations Technology training program page.
